Robert Milton 'Bob' Swift, 72

DOVER - Robert Milton "Bob" Swift of Dover passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover, surrounded by his loving family. He was 72.

He was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Rensselaer, N.Y., son of the late Milton and Mildred (Robinson) Swift.

Bob worked as a welder and retired from Tilcon.

After his retirement he was very supportive and dedicated in helping his wife with her restaurant, Kathy's Kitchen, of Dover.

Bob most recently worked for Dover Pools.

He enjoyed playing golf, NASCAR and was a University of Delaware football fan.

Bob was a past member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge, Camden-Wyoming Lions Club and the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce.

While active with the chamber, he was liaison for military affairs at Dover Air Force Base.

Bob was given the honor as Honorary Commander of the 436th Operations Group at Dover Air Force Base in December 1993 through June 1994 and again in January 1995 through 1998.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard "Dick" Swift.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kathlyn "Kathy" Swift; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra "Debbie" and Richard Eashum of Dover; a grandson, Kyle Eashum of Dover; granddaughter, Stacy Eashum and her fiancé Ryan Martin of Felton; two brothers, Don Swift and his wife Vicki of Milford, Texas, and Ron Swift and his partner Ken Solich of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a sister, Patricia Post and her husband Don of Auburndale, Fla.; sister-in-law, Barbara Swift of Gilbertsville, N.Y.; and his nieces, nephews and an extended family of friends.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Services will be noon Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. A gathering will follow in the fellowship hall at the Wyoming United Methodist Church, Broad Street.
