Robert L. Snyder, 78
NEWARK - Robert L. Snyder, of Newark, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 26, 2008. He was 78.
Born in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Lewis & Lena (Suplee) Snyder.
Mr. Snyder moved to Delaware with his family in 1963.
He worked for Hadley Plumbing until he took a job with Chrysler in skilled trades as a pipe fitter. He truly loved his work.
Mr. Snyder took an early retirement after almost 30 years of service in 1994 to care for his wife, Virginia Oldham Snyder, who preceded him in death in 1997.
He was an active member of Holy Family Church ushering on Saturday nights.
He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, loved working in his flower gardens, his pond and his dogs Tina and now Daisy.
Most of all Mr. Snyder loved his family and their Wednesday night dinners and Sunday special occasions.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Blyman and her husband J. Robert Jr. of New Castle; a brother, Charles E. Snyder and his wife Sue; his grandchildren, A. Robert Blyman III and his wife Lisa, Jennifer Hills and her husband John, and Michael Blyman; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Ann Mills; three nephews; and two nieces.
A mass will be 11 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Church, Newark, where friends and family may call one hour prior.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Galena Cemetery, Galena, Md.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713, in his memory.
