GREENWOOD - Robert J. Corkell Sr., of Greenwood, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 75.
Mr. Corkell was born in Denton, Md., son of the late Harry and Nancy Corkell.
He worked as a mechanic most of his life. His most recent job was with the State of Delaware as a driver for the mentally challenged.
In his spare time, Mr. Corkell enjoyed farming and hunting.
As a mechanic, his passion was for restoring and rebuilding tractors.
Mr. Corkell was a very loving husband, father and grandfather, who loved his spoil his grandchildren tremendously.
He also had a special place in his heart for his K-9 companion, Roxy.
Mr. Corkell was a member of the Harrington Moose 534. He was active in the Moose, was past governor and achieved his Legion and Fellowship Degree.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary E. "Liz" Corkell of Greenwood; sons, Robert Corkell Jr. of Preston, Md., and George Phillip Corkell, Timmy Corkell, Chris Corkell and Pat Corkell, all of Greenwood; daughter, Mary Beth Aviles of Greenwood; grandchildren, Rebecca Corkell, Shannan Corkell and Chelsea Aviles; great-grandchildren, Madison Isaacs and Kalli Chelton; brothers, Eugene Corkell of Harrington, Billy Corkell of Felton and Carvell "Duck" Corkell of Sandtown; and sister, Marjorie Foraker of Sandtown.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington. A visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Federalsburg, Md.
