Robert Gottwals Shockley, 74

GOLDSBORO, Md. - Robert Gottwals Shockley of Goldsboro died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in his home. He was 74.

Mr. Shockley was born April 9, 1933, in Easton, son of the late Howard R. and Dorothy G. (Gottwals) Shockley.

He was a graduate of the Greensboro High School.

Mr. Shockley was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was an accountant and truck driver, working with his father in the family business Howard R. Shockley Grain Co.

Mr. Shockley was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Goldsboro, the Caroline Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7937 and Camden-Wyoming (Del.) Moose Lodge 203. He served as the past District Governor of the Fraternal Order of the Moose, was a 25-year club member and had received the highest honor of the Moose, the Pilgrim Degree of Merit.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred H. "Millie" (Lavere) Shockley, March 6, 1999; and a brother, Richard C. Shockley.

He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, April and Jim Crampton of Magnolia, Del., and LaVonne Shockley, and Crystal and Bill Pepper, all of Harrington, Del.; a sister, Mary Carolyn Franklin of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; a companion, Lesa O'Neal; and six grandchildren, Mollee, Anthony, Alexander, Holly, Walter and Randy.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Greensboro Cemetery.
