Robert Emerson Perkins, 63

WILMINGTON - Robert Emerson Perkins departed this life on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007. He was 63.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1944, in Greenwood, son of the late Harry F. Perkins and Louise B. Camper Perkins.

He received his early childhood education at Lee's Chapel School and later at Louis L. Redding in Middletown.

Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and socializing with his friends and he loved his dog, Rawhide.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, James Camper, Harry, Millard, Norman, Randolph and Victor Perkins; and one sister Nancy J. Johnson.

Robert leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories his wife, Phyllis Perkins of Bowling Green, Va.; two daughters, Pamela Hilliard and son-in-law Greg Hilliard of Mt. Friendship; and Daphney Perkins of Washington, D.C.; four granddaughters, Monique, Jasmine and Shi'erra Hilliard, and Sha'de Perkins; two brothers, George E. Perkins of Wilmington and Tyrone L. Perkins and his wife Sandy of Morehead, Ky.; three sisters, Elsie M. Stewart of Wilmington, Dorothy E. May and her husband Rubeon of Dover and Vivian D. Freeman and her husband Earl of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 235 E. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call two hours prior.

Interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
