FELTON - Robert E. Sylvester, 68, of Dover, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011. He was born to the late Thomas F. Sylvester and Gladys Faulkner Sylvester of Little Creek. Bob graduated from Dover High School in 1962, where he was an all-state athlete. He went on to graduate from Wesley College and was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame. He served in the United States National Guard in the late 1960's while starting his career at Playtex, retiring after 30 years. Bob loved his family and friends and had a true passion for music and sports. He spent his free time boating, fishing, and golfing. To keep active in retirement he worked in the sporting goods department at Wal-Mart. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carole Sylvester; daughter, Tracey Sylvester; son, Bob Sylvester, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Tanya Sylvester; granddaughter, Ivory; and two brothers, Thomas and Gerald Sylvester. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kent County SPCA. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, Friday, Sept. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. Letters of condolences may be sent to www.delmarvaobits.com or traderfh@aol.com.
