GEORGETOWN - Robert C. Gibbs, of Georgetown, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Green Valley Terrace, Millsboro. He was 78.
Robert was born in Capeville, Va., son of the late William and Jessie (Lewis) Gibbs.
He was a yardmaster for Conrail railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1990.
Robert enjoyed baseball, football and fishing, but especially loved time spent with his grandchildren.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Gilmer Gibbs.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann (Young) Gibbs; a son, David W. Gibbs of Georgetown; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Rea and Roy of Mount Airy, Md.; and two grandchildren, Heather Rea and Ryan Rea.
A graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bridgeville Cemetery, North Cannon Street.
Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
