Robert B. Wall

DOVER - Robert B. Wall, of Dover, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Capitol Nursing Home. He was 89. Mr. Wall was born in Dover, to the late Fred L. Wall and Ida Bartow Wall. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eleanore Wall of Dover; children, Gerry Scarfe and her husband Ed of Elkton, Md., Robert Wall, Jr. and his wife Leilani of Dover and Rebecca Wall and her husband Charles Andrews of Renovo, Pa.; six grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII, where he was a pilot and flew in the China Burma India Theater (CBI). After the war Bob returned to Diamond State Telephone Company, now known as Verizon, as an equipment technician for 41 years. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover. Bob was a long distance bicyclist up until he was 76, he loved gardening and natural studies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Jane E. Wall, in 2006 at the age of 46; brother, Roy Wall in 2008; and grandson, Rick Scarfe in 2010. Funeral services will be noon, Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday evening. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901.
