Rickey L. Crump

DOVER - Rickey L. Crump, of Dover, departed this life on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at home. He was 65. Mr. Crump was born Feb. 26, 1946, in Maringouin, La., to the late Warren and Beatrice Crump. He retired from the USAF on Jan. 31, 1989, and from Delaware State University on April of 2008. He was a member of Cavaliers of Dover, Willie H. Dixon Military Lodge No. 143 of the state of Oklahoma, Prince Hall affiliation and the American Legion. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan "How 'bout dem Cowboys." He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Harrell; and two brothers, Johnny Crump, Sr. and Warren Crump, Jr. He is survived by two brothers, James Crump of Baton Rouge, La., and Bernard Crump of Maringouin, La.; two sisters, Dorothy Stewart and his twin sister, Eloris Crump both of Maringouin, La.; two sisters-in-law, Lydia Crump of Camden, and Mary Lee Crump of Fordorche, La.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, his Cavalier Brothers, special friends; his American Legion family and a host of other friends. Viewing will be 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, July 30, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, where services will follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bennie Smith Funeral Home to defray cost of services.
