GALENA, MD - Richard H. Beck, Jr. died Feb. 1, 2016 in Elsmere Veterans Hospital, Elsmere, DE. Rick was born on Sept. 22, 1957 in Santa Ana, Calif., son of Richard H. Beck, Sr. and the late Mariane Watts Beck. In 1969 the family moved to Rock Hall, where he was a 1975 graduate of Kent County High School. From 1983 to 1989 he served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant. After his honorable discharge he graduated from the police academy and began his 18 year career with the Chestertown Police Dept. retiring as Detective Corporal. Rick's passion was music and at the age of 13 had his first performance with Blue Violet at the Rock Hall Civic Center. He continued this throughout his life, he was able to play any instrument, sing, write songs, produce and compose. He produced, wrote and hosted his radio program, the "Ricky Rockit Launch Show" out of Digital Street Recording Studio in Dover, DE., promoting new local artists. Along with his father, Richard H. Beck, Sr. of Millington, he is survived by his children, David Beck and fiancée, Sara Moore of Pittsville, Md., Paul Beck and Allyson Beck both of Millington, Md. and Kaitlin Beck of Worton, Md.; step-son, James DeMun of Millington, Md.; sisters, Elizabeth 'Cricket' Beck, Deborah Ingram (Craig) and Nancy Beck all of Massey, Md. and is survived by his music. Graveside service will be held privately for close family and friends in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Hall, MD. A Celebration of Life to be held as a later date. www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com
