CHESTERVILLE, Md. - Richard Edmund Cook, "Dick" passed away on Jan. 26, 2017 in Shore Medical Center, Chestertown, Md. Dick was born on July 17, 1932, in Paterson, N.J. son of the late Edmund R. and Muriel Christopher Cook. At the age of 15 his family moved to Chesterville and in 1951 he graduated from Galena High School. He was a US Army Veteran. Mr. Cook was a lifetime farmer where he owned and operated a dairy and grain farm. He also operated Edick Dairy Store in Chestertown from 1964 to the mid 1980's. He was a member of the Maryland Guernsey Breeders Association; the Gideon's and was an active member of Olivet United Methodist Church holding numerous positions. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Edmund Cook, Jr. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 63 years, June Everett Cook; three children, James Everett Cook, of Chesterville, Md., Carol Cook Vach (David), of Bel Air, Md., and Edmund Richard Cook (Kristina), of Chesterville, Md.; five grandchildren, Olivia and Nicholas Vach, Jessica Cooper and Jordon and Jonah Behr; and a great-grandchild, Reagan Cooper. A viewing will be held on Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, Md. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Olivet United Methodist Church, Galena, Md. Burial will follow in Sudlersville Cemetery.
