WOODSIDE - Rhea Jacqueline "Jackie" Grace passed away at home peacefully, Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Jackie was born July 8, 1934 in Baltimore, Md. to the late Charles and Mary Smith Brattan. She was raised in Bellmawr, N.J., and a resident of the Dover area for the last 26 years, where she met and made many wonderful friends. Jackie left a lasting impression on all whom had the pleasure of knowing her. In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her loving step-children, Sean Grace, Michael Grace and his wife Tina; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Cox. Devoted wife of 30 years to husband, George Grace; loving Mother to Debora Patras, Bonnie Grimes, and Michelle Weston; dear sister, Patricia Brattan; beloved Step-Mother to Brenda Christmas, Fred Ponder, Vicki Panagodimos (Lambros), Mike Grace (Tapitha), Janice Grace, Heather Buecker (Ferdie), George Grace (Karen), Eric Grace (Angie), 25 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren Her greatest love in life was spending time with her family and she loved to cook for them, especially Thanksgiving Dinner. She graduated from Haddon Heights HS 1951 and in later years attended evening classes at Rutgers University Camden completing +90 credits towards a Liberal Arts Degree majoring in English Literature. She worked as an Executive Secretary for GTE/ADP, retiring in 1994. Jackie was actively involved with many organizations including the Crimson Bonnets (Red Hats), the Newcomers (twice president), Publicity, Secretary and Chaired various committees. Christians Women's Club, Dover Century Club, American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans Auxiliary, Military Spouses, Elks Club. Jackie had a generous and philanthropic spirit, enjoyed and adored her club sisters, as they devoted their time raising funds for the Candlelight Tour and other well deserved charities. She loved playing cards, Bunco, Bridge, Canasta, King Gin, Mah Jong, Michigan Rummy and games with her friends, as well as her daily crossword puzzles, Cryptograms and Sudoku. 2003 - She was nominated along with 20 people for the "Dover Great Person Award" 2004 - During her Presidency she was interviewed by the Delaware Magazine promoting the Newcomers of Dover Although she was a "transplant" to Delaware, she was a "Delawarean" at heart and loved her new home and friends. There will be a visitation from 11 am to 1 pm Saturday, September 12 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. Funeral Services will begin at 1 pm at Funeral Home. Interment will be at Barratt's Chapel, Frederica. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801, Attn: Layne Ross.
