DOVER - Reverend Marva Agnes Burris Jones, wife of the late Reverend Byarie Jones, Jr., the daughter of Creola Burris and the late Clarence C. Burris, Jr., was born on May 14, 1947 in Wilmington. She departed this life after a long illness on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Milford Delaware Hospice. Marva received her elementary and high school education in New York. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Delaware State College (University), Dover. Marva's careers included a TWA airline hostess, a State of Georgia police woman and an elementary teacher in Salisbury, Md. She joined Calvary Baptist Church in Dover, and was later called into the ministry and licensed as a minister and ordained by Pastor Richard M. Avant. She was a faithful member of Calvary and shared the gospel with everyone. Her main focus was to be able to teach and preach to almost everyone with whom she came in contact. Reverend Jones was an active member of the community. She was the best role model of what a mother, wife, sister and friend should be. Loved ones left to cherish her memory include one son D'mitri Morgan; three daughters, Ayasha Jones, Creola Jones, and Octavia Morgan, and four grandchildren, all of Dover, DE, one brother Clarence C. Burris III, Esq. (wife Veronica) of Fairfax, VA; one sister Joyce Burris of Dover, DE; one uncle Winfred (Catherine) Snell of Milford, DE; aunts: Jean Smallwood and McCraye (Steve) Owens of Newburg, NY, Delema Burris Carter and Frances Burris (Herman) Mosley of Felton, DE; two nieces, one nephew and a host of cousins, other relatives friends and loved ones. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Rt. 8 in Dover, DE with visitation two hours prior.
