Rev. Milton B. Kemp

CAMDEN - Milton B. Kemp passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington. Milton was born to the late Charles H. and Myrtle (Hobbs) Kemp. He was a social worker with the state of Delaware for 21 years and worked as assistant manager of Farmers Bank for 16 years. Milton was also a minister for over 39 years to the area. He served as the pastor of Edgehill Church of God in Dover, Henlopen Church of God in Lewes, Willow Grove Church of God in Willow Grove, and the Salina Church of God in Kansas. Milton was a member of the Caesar Rodney Class of 1958. He and his classmates stayed connected and held monthly lunches for many years. His classmates have been very supportive of him during his illness. He loved reading, flowers, driving and serving the Edgehill Church of God and its people. He was an Army veteran and was a Chaplains assistant. In addition to his parents, Milton was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Frank Kemp; and two grandchildren. He was survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Harriet (Short) Kemp; a daughter, Rebecca K. Fansler and husband W. Wilton, III; and five siblings, Ethel Dill, Thomas Kemp, Mable Glanden, Maurice Kemp and Doris Ann Wright. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, with visitation 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2014. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. Flowers are accepted or contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693 (specify Kent County Delaware on donation); or Edgehill Church of God, 702 Maple Parkway, Dover, De 19901.
