Rayborn Lee 'Ray' Heape, 65 HARTLY - Rayborn Lee "Ray" Heape, of Hartly, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at home after a short battle with cancer. He was 65. He was born Oct. 6, 1942, in Vinita, Okla., to the late Earnie L. and Ruby Maxine Dixon Heape. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a correctional officer for the Department of Corrections, State of Delaware for 10 years. Ray was a very talented carpenter, enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles and especially riding his Harley-Davidson. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia Carter-Heape, they had 21 wonderful years together; one daughter, Lori Miller and husband Wayne; grandchildren, Dylan and Brooke of Dover; sister, Sharon and husband Gary Seller of Elk City, Kan.; sister, Jerry Anne and husband Lloyd Lay of Bartlesville, Okla.; nephew, Thomas (Bo) Seller of Independence, Kan.; two loving and caring stepsons, Travis and wife Jamie Carter of Clayton and Colt and wife Leighanne Carter; and a step-grandson, Kasey of Harrington. A gathering of friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Monday in the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be given to American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
