Purcell "Duke" Durham passed away peacefully Saturday, October 1, 2022, in his home surrounded by his wife and children.
Mr. Durham was born September 29, 1934, in Dover, Delaware, to the late Samuel Horace Durham and Sara Durham.
Duke worked as a Truck Driver and was an active member of the SDA Church. He loved playing his guitar and singing. He also enjoyed going to Lancaster PA, camping, watching western movies, having family dinners, and just spending time with family. He loved a good joke and cutting up with his kids.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lucinda Davenport; his sisters, Iona Gould, Marion Carney, and Glendora Ridgway; and his brother, Samuel Durham.
Duke is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley (Coombs) Durham of Dover, DE; his sons, Purcell Durham, Jr. and his wife Natassia of Dover, DE and George Durham and his wife Carol of Milford, DE; his daughters, Joann Bailey and her husband Steve of Dover, DE, Tina Webster and her husband Raymond of Dover, DE, and Deborah Wheeler and her husband John of Dover, DE. His grandchildren: Christina Gott of Dover, DE, Shannon Lugo of Newark, DE, Zachary Wheeler of Dover, DE, Joshua Wheeler of Idaho, Ashlyn English of Dover, DE, Amber Hamilton of Dover, DE, Natasha English of Dover, DE, Stephanie Lecates of Milford, DE, Luke Durham of Harrington, DE, Gordon (Slygh) Massey of Dover, DE, Hunter Massey of New Hampshire, Alexis Swanson of Millville, DE, Jessica Durham of Clayton, DE, Michael Durham of Clayton, DE, Jaqueline Franklin of Chestertown, MD, Daniel Durham of Clayton, DE, Linda Teague of South Carolina, Will Bachtel of Dover, DE, John Bachtel of Dover, DE, Mhargo Bachtel of Smyrna, DE, and Glenn Lightcap Jr. of Dover, DE; and twenty two great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 11 a.m. followed by Funeral Services at 12 p.m. at Forest Grove SDA Church, 4950 Pearsons Corner Road, Dover, Delaware. Interment will be held at Forest Grove SDA Church Cemetery.
