Prince Massenburg, Jr., son of the late Prince Massenburg, Sr. and Mary Massenburg, was born on May 29, 1941. He departed this life on March 29, 2022.
Prince was a 1960 graduate of Peabody High School in Petersburg, Virginia. He never lost his love for his hometown and his classmates.
Prince enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1960, and served in the 2044th Communications Group, Pentagon, Washington D.C., as a Chief of Administration. During his time in the military, Prince's educational experiences were as follows: U.S. Air Force Senior NCO Academy, Supervisor Management Course, OJT Supervisor Management Course, Human Communications Course, Human Relations Course and Supply Customer Training. He supervised multiple employees as a Supply Squadron NCO, and he was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of dedicated service in the U.S Air Force.
After retiring from the Air Force, Prince was employed at Baltimore Air Coil (BAC) in Milford, Delaware, for 14 years, retiring in 1994.
Mr. Massenburg loved to watch sports and make people smile.
Mr. Massenburg is survived by his loving and caring wife of 49 years, Elizabeth L. Massenburg; four daughters, Bonita Massenburg (Thomas) and Marilyn Massenburg both of Oklahoma City, OK, Michele Sherwood, Harrisburg, PA and LaTonia Massenburg (Jacobs), Elkton, MD; son-in-law, Jack Jacobs, Elkton, MD; Johma Thomas (Oklahoma, City); grandchildren, Kayla Utter, Harrisburg, PA, Kwan Redding, Dover, DE, Kera Sherwood, Harrisburg, PA, Britany Massenburg Sanders, Waco, TX, Branden Massenburg, Altus, OK, Michael Massenburg and Shayla Massenburg, Oklahoma City, OK, Quamell Massenburg, Altus, OK, Tyshawn Massenburg, Arlington, TX; in-laws, Hilda Jones, Magnolia, DE, Dolores Roberts, Dover, DE, Anna Mae Dunston (Theodore), Frederica, DE, Albert Deputy, Dover, DE, Teresa Coston (Dale) Frederica, DE, Richard Deputy, Dover, DE, Doreene Deputy, Milford, DE; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to name.
A public viewing will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., at Bennie Smith Funeral Home Delaware, 717 W. Division Street, Dover, DE. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at Barratt's Chapel, Frederica, DE.
