Phoebe Lee Mays
WILMINGTON, DE - Phoebe Lee Mays passed away 6/28/2023 at home surrounded by family.
She was born September 23rd, 1933, in Dover, Delaware, to the late Elmer Russum and Addie P. George.
Mrs. Mays was raised in Dover, worked at Playtex as a bookkeeper. She was a stay-at-home mom while her children were younger, she fostered many children. She moved to Wilmington in 1972 and opened Aunt Mays Daycare which she operated for 32 years. She was passionate about gardening and reading. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Allen Mays.
Mrs. Mays is survived by her children, Mark Mays of Wilmington, DE, and Deborah Mays of Wilmington, DE; her brother, Robert Russum of Florida; and her two grandchildren, Evan Allen Mays, and Alana Lee Altynai Mays.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm, Monday July 17th, 2023, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware. Friends may visit one hour prior. The Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park.
