ELLENDALE - Peter Anthony Layton died suddenly due to heart failure on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013. Peter was born in Wilmington, the son of Edwina (Emery) Layton and the late Caesar Rodney Layton. Peter received his Bachelors Degree in Engineering from the University of Delaware and worked as an engineer up until his death. Peter enjoyed gardening, cooking, literature, world traveling and living life to the fullest. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lauren Copans. He is survived by his mother, Edwina Emery Layton, of Milford; one sister, Barbara Cheyney, of Ocean View; one brother, Caesar R. Layton and his wife Nitara, of Washington, D.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Peter's Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware S.P.C.A. - Sussex Chapter, 22918 DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.
