Pearl Newnam, 86

GALENA, Md. - Pearl Newnam, of Galena, died Feb. 21, 2009, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. She was 86. Mrs. Newnam was born on March 17, 1922, daughter of the late Herman and Martha Haley Hanifee. She was raised in Earleville and had lived Crumpton, and most recently in Galena. She was a member of the Crumpton U. M. Church and the Crumpton V. F. C. Ladies Auxiliary. Miss Pearl enjoyed crafts and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Franklin "Buddy" Newnam in 1998; a son, James "Jim Boy" Newnam; grandson, Mark Husfelt; and great-grandson, Justin Husfelt. Mrs. Newnam is survived by two sons, Jackie Newnam and his wife Alice, and Franklin Newnam Jr. and his wife Jane, all of Galena; a daughter, Phyllis Loveless of Dover; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Newnam Robbins; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25 in Galena Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to Crumpton United Methodist Church c/o the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, MD 21635.
