MILFORD - Paynter Andrew Lynch passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. He was born October 21, 1928 the son of the late William S. and Minnie Hitchens Lynch.
Paynter served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked for the State of Delaware, as a Game Warden from 1967 to 1990. Paynter was instrumental in the re-introduction of the wild turkey and beaver populations in Delaware. After retiring from the State, he started his own business "Animal Damage Control" removing nuisance animals.
Paynter was an active member of Ducks Unlimited, including being past Chapter President. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, trapping, and trap and skeet shooting. Paynter enjoyed spending summers with his grandsons, Jeremy and Zachary, during their formative years. He taught them many life lessons, including hunting and trapping.
He was involved in one of the first local pony racing tracks and involved in stock car racing. During the early years of NASCAR, he worked with Dutch Warrington on #91 at Hickory Motor Speedway dirt track. In later years, Paynter worked with D & D Dismantling Racing Team and Blue Hen Racing Team. Additionally, he was an instrumental part of Lynch Motorsports.
He also enjoyed playing poker with his close friends.
His greatest pleasure was spending time hunting with his sons and grandsons.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded by his siblings, Mary Hayden, George Lynch, William Lynch, and Donald Lynch; and grandson, James A. Lynch, Jr.
Paynter is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Ingram Lynch; and their children, Paige and his wife, Crystal of Houston, Delaware and William 'Tad' and his wife, Susan of Milford; and grandchildren, Jeremy (and Jessica) of Felton and Zachary of Milford; and great-grandchildren, Jayce and Jeslyn.
He is also survived by his children, James Lynch and his wife, Terri of Milford, Dawn Lynch Petterson of Lewes, and Deborah Lynch Papaioanu and her husband, Michael of Georgia; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Special thanks are offered to Delaware Hospice for making it possible for Paynter to pass at home, surrounded by his loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
