MAGNOLIA, Del. - Paul Thomas Dutton was called home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2022. Paul was born on November 28, 1949 in Fukoka, Japan, to the late Thomas and Patricia Dutton.
At the age of 19, while in the United States Navy, he met his soulmate and best friend "Ronnie." After only knowing each other for two short weeks, he proposed before going back out to sea and returning for their wedding day. They spent the next 47 beautiful years creating and raising their family together. They were blessed with two children of their own and five grandchildren. Their love story was one of a kind and admired by many.
He was an active band parent during his children's high school years, loved fishing with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed sitting on his back porch drinking coffee. Family meant everything to him. Paul was always a determined hard worker. After his service in the Navy, he started as a lineman for Verizon and worked his way up to management where he eventually retired after several years. After retirement, Paul enjoyed managing his own lawn care business for a few years and worked part-time for Kent Oil. He enjoyed seeing and talking with his many friends in the community.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica "Ronnie"; but leaves behind his children, Michael Dutton and his wife Sarah, Beth Schmidt and her husband Albert; grandchildren, Liliah, Abigail, Ashlyn, Savannah and Aidan. They will all miss him dearly as he was a huge part in their lives.
A gathering for family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, February 8, 2022 at Pippen Funeral Home, 119 West Camden Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE 19934. Interment will be private and held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor can be sent to the Disabled American Veterans at P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250 or the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
