Paul M. Meadows, 84
DOVER - Dr. Paul M. Meadows, of Dover, died Friday, Feb., 2, 2007, after an extended illness. He was 84.
Dr. Meadows was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Athens, Ala., to the late Thomas and Eunice (McDonald) Meadows.
He attended schools in Milledgeville, Ga.
At 19, he volunteered for the U.S. Army, where he served for four years.
After graduating from Harvard Medical School and receiving his training in diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology at the New England Medical Center, Boston, he became the director of radiation oncology and an associate professor of radiation oncology at the University of Pittsburgh. He was Eppley professor of radiation oncology at the University of Nebraska. During his career, he became director of radiation oncology at Baptist Hospital, Pensacola, Fla., and served in the same capacity at the Cancer Center, Dover.
Dr. Meadows was a member of various medical societies and received honors throughout his career.
Dr. Meadows is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Meadows of Dover; five children, Carolyn Lockhart of Daphne, Ala., Paul and his wife Marian Meadows of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Craig and his wife Jeanne Meadows of Gulf Breeze, Laura and her husband Bernie Brown,of Dover, and Amy and her husband Chris Brown of Selma, N.C.; his sister, Louise Hanson of Sacramento, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Pensacola.
