Paul Larry Haass, 79
MIDDLETOWN - Paul Larry Haass passed away on May 15, 2021.
He was born in Ridgely, Md., the son of the late Paul Haass and Elsie Mae (Schmidt) Haass-Hudson. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Jean (Porter) Haass; step-father, Carlton Amos Hudson; step-son, John Yearwood; and two grandchildren, Mark and Carrie Haass.
In his early years he worked side by side with his father learning the construction trade. Later father and son started Haass & Son Construction Company. He served a short term in the Merchant Marines where he learned to be a steam operator. He then went to work as a steam engineer at Chrysler Corporation. Upon retiring he found his passion as a game dealer at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino.
As a child and young man he went by Larry, since his fathers name was Paul. Later in life he went by Paul and Phantom. His favorite names were Daddy and Poppy. Whichever name you know him by, his smile is likely the first thing that comes to mind. He was an old soul who loved people and believed in doing business face to face and with a handshake. He loved life but his most cherished possessions was his family.
Paul is survived by five children, Sandra, Paul, Linda, Paula, Tami. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
