SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - Paul Earl Swain, 85, of Sudlersville, died Feb. 24, 2012, in Hospice of Queen Anne's, Centreville. Mr. Swain was born on April 23, 1926, in Wilmington, Del., son of the late Earl and Jennie Hagmeyer Swain. He served in the US Navy during World War II. His career began with Equitable Insurance Company and also worked for 12 years with General Motors until becoming a Rural Mail Carrier with Sudlersville, retiring in 1992. He was a life member of Sudlersville Vol. Fire Company, serving as past president. He also was a member of Millington VFW Post 652 and a former member of Sudlersville Lions Club. He was preceded in death by five brothers including Robert and Edward Swain. Mr. Swain is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lenora Neal Swain; his son, Steven Swain and his wife Cynthia of Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Nancy Warner of Dover, Del.; a brother, William Swain and his wife Jennie of Wilmington; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be noon, Wednesday, Feb. 29, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial in Sudlersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to VFW Post 652, 30922 River Rd., Millington, MD 21651; or Sudlersville V.F.C., 203 S. Church St., Sudlersville, MD 21668.
