Ollie Ann Hitchens, 67

SELBYVILLE - Ollie Ann Hitchens of Selbyville went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2007, in the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. She was 67.

Mrs. Hitchens was born on Aug.14, 1939, in Frankford, son of the late Ollie and Frances (Rickards) Baker.

She graduated from Lord Baltimore High School then attended Peninsula General School of Nursing.

Mrs. Hitchens was a registered nurse at Peninsula Regional Medical Center for 40 years retiring in 2002 at the clinical manager for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, the Anesthesia department and the Same Day Surgery Department.

She was a member of St. Matthews By the Sea Church and the Wilson United Methodist Women"s Group.

Mrs. Hitchens was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was always there to lend a helping hand.

Everyone was always welcome at her dinner table where she could fellowship with her friends.

Mrs. Hitchens also enjoyed her Sunday afternoon rides with her husband after attending church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years Darrell W. "Boogie" Hitchens; a daughter, Lisa L. Gray and her husband, Tim of Selbyville; a sister, Mary Lee Givens of Laurel; two grandchildren, Shelby L. Gray and Christopher Gray; two uncles, Elwood and Robert Rickards; and a cousin, Donald Rickards.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Ave., in Ocean View, where friends may call after noon.

Interment will follow at Bishopville Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ollie"s name to St. Matthews By the Sea United Methodist Church, 1000 Coastal Highway, Fenwick Island, DE 19944; or Peninsula Regional Medical Center, 100 East Carroll St., Salisbury, MD 21801.
