Newcomb, Jr., 63 LEWES - Norman Newcomb Jr., known to most as "Nuggie" was called home to the Lord on Monday Oct. 6th, 2014. He passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Norman was born Oct. 29th, 1950 in Lewes to the late Norman Newcomb Sr. and Alberta Cowan (Polite) who survives him. A painter by trade, he worked for many years in Sussex County. Until his early retirement, due to health reasons, he worked in the maintenance department of Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. Nuggie enjoyed playing baseball, bowling and was a champion chess player in school. He enjoyed following horse racing and watching football. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Michael Newcomb and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Matthew and Morgan of Milton; his companion and faithful caregiver for the last eight years, Patty Reed; his four sisters, Sandy West and Joyce Burton of Milton, Faye Deppe of Fla. and Cecilia Hill of S.C. In addition, he is survived by 13 nieces and nephews; Faye Schneider, Jeanette Duvall, Kathy Baker and Ida Scott of Bridgeville, Vicky Card of Milton, Maureen Hayes, Norman Hayes and Luke Hill of S.C., Jonah Kincade of Milford, Shane Kincade of Dover, Eddie Hayes of Lewes, Bryon Burton of Millsboro and Johnny West of Seaford. His dog Molly will forever miss his companionship. He is also survived by his extended family Matthew and Lisa Solt of Oak Orchard, Joe Solt of Lancaster, Pa. and Karen and Lenny Kristoff of Pottsville, Pa. Services and burial will be private. A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Irish Eyes in Lewes, Delaware on October 15th, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Newark, De 19711. Arrangements by Short Funeral Services , Milton, DE.
