Norman 'Norm' Lee Tunney, 76
DOVER - Norman "Norm" Lee Tunney of Dover went home to be with his Lord Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 76.
Mr. Tunney was born on April 15, 1931, in West Brownsville, Pa., son of the late Clifford and Mabel (McCleary) Tunney.
He had served his country proudly as a tech sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and retired with 20 years.
His service extended during Korea and Vietnam.
After his retirement, Mr. Tunney then worked for Chesapeake Utilities, where he was a measurement technician.
He retired in 1993 after 21 years of service.
Mr. Tunney was a faithful and devoted member of First Southern Baptist Church of Dover, where he had served on numerous committees and boards.
He also was a member of the Modern Maturity Center, Dover, and was a hospice volunteer along with his wife.
Mr. Tunney loved the outdoors and nature, camping, building puzzles, listening to Southern gospel music and spending time with his family, grandchildren and fellowshipping with friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Ray Tunney of Chandler, Ariz., in October 2007; a sister, Muriel Tunney Nickalo of Columbiana, Ohio; and four brothers, Gene Tunney of Brownsville, Pa., Glen Tunney and Earl Tunney, both of West Brownsville, and Melvin Tunney of Salem, Ore.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joe Ann Tunney; daughter Debbie and son-in-law Will Johnson of Snyder, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Reva Tunney of Chandler; daughter Sue and son-in-law, Bill McTheny of Milford; daughter, Lynn and son-in-law Alan Blanchard of Jonesboro, Ga.; daughter, Dottie and son-in-law Gary Halliday of Dover; grandchildren, Christopher Johnson of Snyder, James and wife Angie Saxton of Milford, Kayla Blanchard of Jonesboro, Christina McTheny of Milford, Emily Halliday, Amanda Halliday and Daniel Halliday of Dover; great-grandchildren, Cherokee Johnson and Christopher Johnson Jr. of Snyder, Bryan Giuffre of Milford and Caden Irvin of Milford; two sisters, Kathleen Tunney Holzapfel of Brownsville and Ruth Tunney Jones of West Brownsville; and three brothers, Walter Tunney of West Brownsville, Edward Tunney of Brownsville, and Ray Tunney of Shelby, Ohio.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where friends may also call one hour before services.
Burial with full military honors will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
