EASTON, Md. - Norman Floyd Wooters, formerly of Wye Heights Plantation, Easton, departed this life Thursday, July 28, 2011. Born on July 17, 1919, to the late Harry and Nettie Cooper Wooters of Denton, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. Johnson who died on May 10, 2001. He is survived by four children, Floyd C. and Gervios Wooters of Cordova, Virginia L. and Jay Shores of Easton, Rose and Larry Blades of Preston, and Howard L. and Patty Wooters of Greensboro. He has eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and three surviving sisters. As a young man, he volunteered as a deputy for Caroline County sheriff George Clark. He laughed that many a time he had to go to a bar and break up a fight of some of his best friends. Norman's life work was farming. When trying to enlist during WWII, he was told he was needed more to feed the troops. He took those words to heart. The sun, the moon and the tides were his quids while his love of the land was his prize. A funeral service will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Easton, on Friday, August 5 at 1 p.m. where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Concord Cemetery.
