HARRINGTON - Noah J. Zook, of Harrington, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving and caring family. Mr. Zook drove a truck for over 20 years before he became a charter bus driver, which he did for over 30 years. The last 18 years as a charter driver was spent as an owner and operator of Zook's Bus Service, until his retirement in 2004. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working and restoring old Ford 8N tractors, oftentimes with the help of his sons. He also enjoyed cutting grass and taking care of his landscaping. He loved to talk, visit, and laugh with anyone he just met. He never knew a stranger and was known for his sense of humor. He was a real people person and had many friends and bus patrons who remember him all across the country. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father who installed a sense of loyalty and devotion to his children. During the last year of his sickness, his children stepped up without hesitation, to take turns, and to provide the care he needed so that he did not have to go into a nursing home. Throughout his illness he never once complained, but was always filled with joy. Mr. Zook was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Tillie Zook; his brothers, Henry, Raymond, Bill, and Paul Zook. Mr. Zook is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Arlene B. Zook of Harrington; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Sheila Zook of Greenwood, Elwood and Deborah Zook of Clayton; daughters and son-in-law, Ruby F. Cahall of Felton, Doris E. Davis of Milford, Donna K. and Don Rash of Laurel; brother and sister-in-law, Simon and Verna Zook of Goshen, Ind.; sisters and brother-in-law, Elva Miller of Milford, Ind., Mary Emma and Henry Brenneman of Grantsville, Md.; sisters-in-law, Marie, Donna, and Sara Zook; grandchildren, Carla, DeAnna, Brad, Jason, Allison, Tracy, Brian, Melissa, Chris, April, Amy, Dustin, Cynthia, Krystal, and Brandon; 24 great-grandchildren; and Pastor Lowell Bechtel who was like an adopted brother to Noah, and a strong supporter of the family during their time of need. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at Tressler Mennonite Church, Greenwood. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Greenwood Mennonite School. Interment will be at Tressler Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements by Melvin Funeral Home.
