Nancy Jean Hutson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore on March 14, 2023.
A resident of Goldsboro, MD, Nancy was born in Easton, MD, on September 30, 1960, the daughter of Janet Combs and Allie Draper, Jr. She was a graduate of North Caroline High School Class of 1978.
She married Richard Lee Hutson, Sr., and they resided in Goldsboro, where she relished being a homemaker for her family, raising and taking care of her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent and loving caretaker. When everyone in the family was sick, including herself, she would tend to everyone else first.
She enjoyed camping with friends and family during three seasons, especially in Holiday Park where she loved participating in the annual Halloween event, taking the time to decorate the site. She also enjoyed cooking --everyone agreed her homemade lasagna was top notch.
Nancy was a very positive person, always looking to make her family and friends smile and laugh (not always intentionally, sometimes just being her silly self). Her love, devotion, and kindness will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Lee Hutson, Sr.; her daughter, Brandy Boyd of Denton; grandchildren, Allie (Noah) Smith, Haylee Hutson, Richard Hutson, III, and Callie Boyd; and sister, Wanda Shahan. She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Shirley Draper and Debbie Korell; and her son, Richard Hutson, Jr.
A visitation will be held at Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home in Greensboro on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 1 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Greensboro Cemetery.
