Nancy Grant Lewis, 94
DOVER - Nancy Grant Lewis passed away peacefully Sunday, December 26, 2021, at State Street Assisted Living in Dover.
Nancy was born in Salisbury, Md. on November 21, 1927, daughter of the late Robert Thornton and Mary Beck Grant of Snow Hill, Maryland. After graduating Snow Hill High School at age sixteen, Nancy attended Washington College for a short time and transferred to Goldy-Beacom College where she met her loving husband of 72 years. While raising her family, she later graduated from Delaware State College in 1966 and went on to get her master's degree in education at Salisbury State College in May of 1974. Her two daughters graduated with bachelor's degrees that same year, it was a triumphant occasion for all. Nancy was an Elementary School teacher in the Caesar Rodney School District for twenty-two years and thoroughly enjoyed teaching her second and third grade students. She was an avid bridge player and loved collecting antiques, a valued member of the Colonel John Haslet DAR Chapter in Dover and a member of Christ Episcopal Church where she and her four children attended for many years.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John "Jack" Lewis, on August 22, 2021; her sister, Mary McMullen; and son-in-law, James B. Titus, Jr.
Nancy is survived by daughters, Nancy Kathryn Boyle (Alfred) of Rehoboth Beach, Del., Sandra Lewis Titus of Salisbury, Md.; sons, Robert Grant Lewis of Lewes, Del. and John Edwin Lewis (Gail) of Sarasota, Fla.; sister, Anne Hastings of Berlin, Md.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held noon on Monday, January 3, 2022, at Torbert Funeral Chapels South, 1145 E Lebanon Rd. (Rt. 10) Dover. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. For those unable to attend the funeral service there will be a livestream on www.torbertfuneral.com, it can be found under the "Upcoming Livestreams" tab and viewed by clicking on her name.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Nancy's memory be sent to Colonel John Haslet Chapter NSDAR, 388 Mulberrie Point Rd., Frederica, DE 19946.
