Nancy B. Kilgore Gelley, 87 MIDDLETOWN - Nancy B. Kilgore Gelley, 87, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2009, after a long illness. She was born in Waltham, Mass., on April 2, 1922. Nancy was a registered nurse, avid bridge player and a supporter of the World Wildlife Fund. After graduating from Hahnemann Hospital, Worcester, Massachusetts in 1944, she worked in various operating room supervisory positions until taking time off to raise a family. She returned to nursing in 1970 at the Wilmington Hospital as an operating room nurse and moved to the Christiana Hospital when it opened in 1985. She retired in 1987. She continued as a volunteer with Christiana Hospital for another year. Nancy is survived by her four children, son, Gordon of Middletown, with whom she lived, daughter, Lynn Walsh and her husband, Bernard of Lakeland, Florida, son, Mark and his wife, Bonnie and grandson, Daniel of Jamestown, North Carolina, and daughter, Martha Leatch and husband, Craig and grandson, Samuel of Addison, Mich. She is also survived by a sister, Janice Allen and her husband, Robert of Peterborough, New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Jacquelyn (Kilgore) Bigelow of Charlton, Massachusetts, and sister-in-law, Doris Gelley of Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by brothers Louis Kilgore and Edward Kilgore. The family would like to thank Delaware Hospice and Evelyn Raison for their mother's care during her illness. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests contributions to the M.O.T. Senior Center, 300 South Scott Street, Middletown, DE 19709 in their mother's name.
