Myrtle Z. Buchanan

SMYRNA - Myrtle Z. "Granny Grumps" Buchanan passed away at Broadmeadow Health Care in Middletown, Del. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013. Mrs. Buchanan was born Sept. 27, 1929 in Bat Cave, N.C., the daughter of the late Robert and Zadie Freeman. She worked as a Cook for several restaurants for many years before retirement. Mrs. Buchanan was an avid reader who also enjoyed watching TV, especially judge and cop shows. She also worked in the Peach Circle Senior Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Diane Waterfield; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her two sons, Robert Allen Buchanan and his wife Sandy of Bear, Del., and Billie R. Buchanan and his wife Linda of Townsend, Del.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A viewing for family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Smyrna. The family would like to extend a sincere thank to the nurses and staff of Broadmeadow Health Care you for the excellent care and love that they extended to Mrs. Buchanan.
