STILL POND, MD - Morris Leon "Butch" Massey, of Still Pond, Md., passed away on Nov. 11, 2011. He was 62 years old. Born on Jan. 7, 1949 in Chestertown, Md., he was a son of the late Ernest Leon and Lula Mae Morris Massey. He was in the first graduating class of Queen Anne's CountyHigh School in 1967. He spent the majority of his life in Kent County, Md. Butch's larger than life personality made everyone who met him feel like they had known him forever. He wasn't "here for a long time, but he was here for a good time". When he was 3 years old, he led the parade over the grand opening of the Chesapeake BayBridge on a pony-drawn cart dressed as Uncle Sam. Fishing was by far his favorite pastime, and he loved riding his Harley and shooting pool. Cooking was another passion, and he was the "go-to" guy when anyone needed a fried turkey or some catfish nuggets. He loved to have his friends and family around him, and he touched countless lives. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughters, Wendy Massey Riley and husband Bill, Tammie Massey Johnson and husband Shawn, Courtney Bilbrough, and Brittney Massey; son, Jason Massey Stubbs; sister, Sally Ann Coursey and her husband Butch; his grandchildren, Amanda Stoltz, Ashley Rankin, Jean Ann Riley, Taylor Elms, Aaliyah Johnson, Jasmine Stubbs, Naomi Stubbs, Hunter Bilbrough, Hayden Bilbrough, Chloie Massey, and Nataleigh Massey-Atwood; and nephew, Justin Stubbs and his wife Chastity. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St.Galena, MD. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Family will also be receiving friends an hour before the service. Burial in ChurchHillCemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Unit, in c/o the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech.
