WORTON - "Richard" Myers, Sr. of Worton, died on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at his home. He was 73. He was born on the family's farm in Worton Maryland on August 14, 1938 the son of the late Milton Carl and Elma Usilton Myers. Mr. Myers was a 1956 graduate of Chestertown High School and immediately went to work on the family's farm for many years until his father's passing. He then took a position as grounds keeper with Chester River Yacht and Country Club where he worked for the past 23 years. He was previously married to Marion Ford and on February 14, 1986 remarried to Barbara Dickerson. Mr. Myers was a member of the Chestertown Elks Lodge #2474, St. James United Methodist Church, and the N.R.A. He enjoyed crabbing, fishing, deer and goose hunting, mowing grass, spending time with his friends at "the office", and the many boat trips in the family's boat traveling the Chester River, Chesapeake Bay, and all the little creeks in between. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, M. Richard "Rick" Myers and his wife LeeAnn, Cindy King and her husband Rick, and Brian Myers and his fiancée Angie all of Worton; and Donna Simmons and her husband Andy of Chestertown;, along with seven grandchildren, Amanda, Megan, Dylan, Caitlin, Nathan, Kyle, and Danielle; and one great granddaughter, Chloe. Services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2012 at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Road Chestertown where relatives and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be held in St. James Cemetery in Worton. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church P.O. Box 156 Worton, MD 21678.
