HAVERFORD, Pa. - Milton H. Murray, age 94, of Haverford, formerly of Drexel Hill, Pa. and Bishopville, Md., passed away on Aug. 20 2010, at the Westgate Nursing Home in Haverford, Pa. Mr. Murray was born on Aug. 19, 1916, in New Castle, Del. to the late Harvey and Addie Bunting Murray. Milton moved from Bishopville, Md., to Philadelphia, Pa., in the early 30s. Mr. Murray was a retired civilian employee of the U.S. Army where he worked in the Procurement Department as an accounting official. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was very active in his church and church activities over the years. "Uncle Milton" was a very caring, generous, and trusting man with a big heart. He was always willing to help anyone in need that he could. He was modest about his accomplishments but it must be told of a good deed he did 40 years ago that changed many lives. Uncle Milton knew this young couple that had an opportunity to buy a funeral home but needed help to do it. He made it possible for James Funeral Home to become James & Watson Funeral Home. Later it became Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro and continues to this day with a Watson undertaker practicing. This deed has helped thousands of Sussex Countians and others over the years and he is greatly responsible for that. He is survived by his cousins, Marion G. Irvine, Alex Irvine, Janice Dobrin, and Harold; many friends past and present; other cousins; and extended family in Delaware. Services will be graveside at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug., 28 at the Bishopville Cemetery in Bishopville, Md. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S Washington Street, Millsboro, Del. Letters of condolence may be emailed via www.watsonfh.com
