Mildred Marvel Lesser, 83
LINCOLN - Mildred Marvel Lesser of Lincoln died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at home. She was 83.
She was born in Baltimore, daughter of the late Raymond John and Ethel I. Roberts Marvel.
Ms. Lesser was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II from 1943 to 1945.
For five years, she was a social worker for the state of Delaware, retiring in 1987.
Ms. Lesser helped establish the first daycare centers in Baltimore City.
She loved to go to the slots and enjoyed all sports in her younger years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Marvel; a sister, Ethel Lois Marvel; and a granddaughter, Lisa Carole Gelvine.
She is survived by her children, Carole Cain of Lincoln, Leslie Mills of Magnolia and Linda Schissler of Baltimore; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 9 a.m.
Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
