CAMDEN-WYOMING -- Mildred M. Knight, 83, of Camden-Wyoming, passed away Dec. 31, 2008, at Bayhealth Center, Dover. She was the daughter of the late Henry Clay Betts and Lulu E. Bennett. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Elwood Smith Knight Jr.; and six children, Hayden W. Klingler Sr. and wife Connie of West Kittanning, Pa., Debbie Buchert and husband Jess of Nipoma, Calif., Jay Bruce Klingler and wife Nancy of Felton, D. Robin Knight and wife Karen of Felton, E. Lane Knight and wife Connie of Felton and E. Gary Knight and wife Elvina of Magnolia; a brother-in-law, G. Grover Knight and his wife Margaret of Frederica; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great- grandchildren. Mrs. Knight was co-owner of Crystal Rug and Dry Cleaners of Camden. She was a den mother of Cub Scout Pack 296. She was a life member of the American Legion Post 29, Denton, Md., and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 652, Millington, Md. She was a former member and past president of VFW Post 7937, Greensboro, Md. She was also a member of the Modern Maturity Center, Dover, the Military Order of the Cooties, the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge 1546 and Harvest Years Senior Center, Camden. She also served as past president for VFW District 4 and the VFW National Home, Eaton Rapids, Mich. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the VFW National Home, 3573 S. Waverly Road, Eaton Rapids, MI 48827; or the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 6, at noon, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, where friends may call Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. to noon. Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
