Mildred Lois Merrbach Moon

Mildred Lois Merrbach Moon, 83

GREENSBORO, Md. - Mildred Lois Merrbach Moon, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, in Memorial Hospital in Easton. She was 83. Born in Lonacning on May 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James Earl and Marcelenia Sluss Merrbach. Mrs. Moon was a 1943 graduate of Central High School in Lonaconing. She married Harry J. Moon Jr. on July 7, 1945. They lived in Edgewater, where she raised her family. She has resided in Greensboro since 1974. She was a long time companion of Charles C. Foy Sr., who also preceded her. Mrs. Moon was the chairperson of the Republican National Committee for Anne Arundel County from 1969 to 1974. She also volunteered much of her time in Anne Arundel County. A wonderful gardener, Mrs. Moon could grow just about anything. She was a devoted grandmother. She is survived by two sons, Harry J. Moon III of Ridgely, and James Cecil Moon of Prince Georges; three daughters, Joy Beth Long of Edgewater, Bonnie L. Wilkinson of Denton, and Connie S. Garrant-Stephan of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, June Wattenscaidt of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Julie Cremeans of Rutland, Ohio; along with special friend, Gary Lee Hunter of Greensboro; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry in 1993. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
