Mildred J. Simonsen DOVER - Mildred J. Simonsen, passed away peacefully on Thursday Aug. 13, 2009. She was born September 6, 1916 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Clara & Karl Jacobsen. She was a homemaker in Long Island, NY and Ramsey, NJ and retired to Port Richey, FL in 1978. She moved to Dover, DE in 1999 to reside with her son, Tom, and daughter in law, Lynne. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Thomas A. Simonsen, Sr., her brother, Ralph Jacobsen and her sister, Helen Jacobsen. She will be dearly missed by her two sons, Thomas A. Simonsen, Jr. and his wife Lynne of Dover and Dale H. Simonsen and his wife Charlotte of Clinton, MO. She was loved tremendously by her five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. She was a member of the Sons of Norway, Garborg Lodge 265, Long Island, NY, and a 60 year member of Jeptha Chapter 134, Order of the Eastern Star in Ramsey, NJ, where she was a Past Worthy Matron. She also was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Port Richey, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of your choice. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 East Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware. (Route 10 & Route 113-A) Eastern Star Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 17th. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 18th. Interment will be private.
