Mickey Kerr Dusbiber, 82 DEXTER, Mich. - Mickey Kerr Dusbiber, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 22, 2009. Mickey was born on August 26, 1927 in Mayfield, Ky., and was the daughter of the late Amanda Elizabeth (Mills) and Edwin Glen Kerr. Her only brother William Kerr (Esther) passed away in 2002. Mickey moved to Ypsilanti, Mich., in 1943, graduated from Ypsilanti High School, and attended the Michigan State Normal College. She met William Harvey Dusbiber in 1947 and they were married at Emanuel Lutheran Church on June 20, 1947. Mickey worked for Ypsilanti Public Schools for eighteen years (1965-1984) as a school secretary. Her children were very fortunate that she could be a "stay-at-home" mom during their younger years and had a work schedule that always put her children and family first. Mickey and Harvey spent a lot of time traveling after their retirements and traveled extensively throughout Europe. In 1995 they moved to Delaware to live near their oldest son, Martin Dusbiber. Their Michigan family visited often and had many wonderful vacations at Rehoboth Beach, Del. During their years in Delaware, Mickey and Harvey spent much time researching their genealogy and they wrote and published two books in 1997. She was most proud of being a direct descendent of Davy Crockett. They returned to live in Dexter, Mich. in 2003. Mickey was an avid reader and spent much time at the Dexter library. She was also the family historian and kept a daily journal of her life and the life of her family for over twenty years. She had a lot of friends and was enjoyed and liked by everyone she came in contact with. Mickey is survived by her husband, William Harvey, of 62 years; her daughter, Melissa Hunt- Loy (Lonnie Loy) of Ann Arbor, Mich.; sons, Martin (Gail) of Milford, Del., and Matthew of Whitmore Lake, Mich.; two grandsons, Andrew Hunt of Royal Oak, Mich., and Adam Hunt (Courtnay) of Ann Arbor; six step-grandchildren, David, Susan, Matt, Margaret, Melissa and Andrew; and two step great-grandchildren. Mickey was very involved in all aspects of her children's and grandchildren's lives, loving each one of them unconditionally. They are blessed with many fond memories. A private family service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Nie Funeral Home with Pastor Ludwig of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a member, officiating. Interment has taken place at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti. Memorial contributions can be made to the Zion Lutheran Church music program at 1501 West Liberty, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Please visit Mickey's personal webpage at www.niefuneralhomes.com to sign her guestbook.
