FREDERICA - Michael Edward Miller, has passed on to greater things following an automobile accident on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008. He was 34. Born in 1974, Michael is the son of Laura Bell-Burkett, Martin Miller, Robert Raksnis, Christine Miller, and Craig Burkett. Michael ("Mike") attended Lake Forest High School where he worked as a school newspaper journalist and graduated in 1992. He joined the Marine Corps, where he would eventually be blessed with the love of his life, Megan. After serving in the Marine Corps in San Diego, Calif., Michael moved his wife and young sons back to Delaware to be close to the rest of his extended family. Michael and Megan continued their service through the Delaware National Guard. Close friends and family would easily describe Michael as a fun-loving and energetic family man, the type of father that would organize neighborhood football games and loved to play video games with his boys. He was very active in the lives of his sons, often taking them camping and surf fishing at the beach, as well as to wrestling practices and meets. Michael cheered for NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt,Jr., the NFL's Washington Redskins, and NCAA's Miami Hurricanes. He enjoyed rock music, Ebay, and loved to make others laugh. His life was a testimony to his passion for being a great father and loving husband. His guidance, wisdom, and love of life will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Megan Miller; and their sons, Ryan, Jeremy, and Nathan; his mother, Laura Bell-Burkett and her husband Craig Burkett of Dover; his father, Martin Miller and his wife Christine Miller of Greenwood, and their sons, Marty, Dave, and Paul; his sisters, Tracey and Abby Raksnis; his brother, Jason Raksnis and his fiance Angela Healey; grandparents, Barbara and Edward Beachy of Harrington, Charles and Lucy Bell of Fort Smith, Alaska, Margaret Jean Miller of Harrington; and a great-grandmother, Virginia Smith of Harrington. He is also survived by many aunts and uncles, Debora and Barry Foor of Dover, Patti and Carl Donophan of Dover, Cindy and Steve Rust of Milford, and many cousins who loved him and will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. today at Calvary Wesleyan Church, 240 Delaware Avenue, Harrington. Burial will be 2 p.m. in the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Bear. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
