Farkas, Sr., 58
On December 11, 2022, Michael Allen Farkas, Sr. passed away from kidney cancer peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones in Magnolia, Delaware.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kyong Suk "Sue" Farkas; his two children, Amanda Hewitt (husband Travis and daughters Sophie and Lilly) and Michael Allen Farkas, Jr.; his mother- and father-in-law, Sok Sun and Tong Man Yi; his sisters, Jody Laird (husband Mike) and Vicki Hinson (husband Tim); his sister-in-law, K.C. Taylor (husband Bob); his brother-in-law, Chong Yi; his uncles, Jamie "Buck" Ling (wife Linda) and John Ling; as well as a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mike was born on September 18, 1964, to Jean L. Davis and Marvin A. Davis in Roaring Springs, PA. He was raised in Schellsburg, PA and graduated from Chestnut Ridge in 1983. Mike joined the Air Force in 1984 and proudly served his country for 26 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 2010. Mike was a veteran of the War in Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom.
Mike was married to his "lovie" in 1986. They were happily married for 36 years. Mike was a devoted husband, father, and pappy; he was a constant in his love and support, especially with his granddaughters, whom he was always saying he couldn't be prouder of. Mike enjoyed making his family and friends laugh and smile. His positivity, friendliness, and desire to put people at ease often extended to friends and strangers alike. Mike was also an avid hunter and angler. Depending on the season, you could often find him out hunting with his son or fishing with the whole family.
At Mike's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, the family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
To honor Mike's memory, consider a donation in his name to Burn Pits 360, the American Kidney Fund, or a charity of your choice.
