Michael Alden Steele

Michael Alden Steele passed away July 11, 2014 at home. Mr. Steele worked for the State of Delaware in the Transportation Department for 18 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking, and travelling. He was also a first responder for the State of Delaware. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Steele; and shortly before his own death, by his mother, Josephine E. Massey. He is survived by his former wife of 32 years, Lori Steele of Millsboro; his father, Elmer Massey of Georgetown; daughter, Austyn Steele, of Millsboro; brother, Allan Schirmer and his wife, Nancy, of Georgetown; sister–in-law, Lisa Steele also of Georgetown; several aunts, uncle, nieces, and nephews; as well as a special aunt, Nancy Williamson, of which he lived with for the past 6 months. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE 19947, where friends may call after 12 noon. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Georgetown. Flowers are accepted or a contribution in Mike's name can be given to: Grace UM Church, PO BOX 566, Millsboro, DE 19966.
