MARYDEL, MD - Mervin Jonas Richard, Sr. passed away on October 30, 2022, at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, MD.
Born on April 13, 1929, in Templeville, MD, he was the son of the late Truman and Anna Andersen Richard.
Mervin graduated from Greensboro High School, class of 1946. He worked for Suburban Propane Gas as a service technician for over 30 years. Mervin was an active member of Temple Grange for more then 50 years and belonged to Marydel Lions Club. Mervin has been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church since 1957.
Mervin is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty Richard; son, Mervin Richard, Jr. (Judith) of Washington, DC; daughters, Beverly Richard Lerner (David) of NY, Deborah Tretina of Dover, DE; grandchildren, Stephanie Polak (Adam), Christopher Tretina (Becky), Nicholas Tretina (Stephanie); great granddaughter, Samantha Tretina; brother, James Richard (Betty); and sister, Dorothy Shahan.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles Richard, William "Bill" Richard, Harvey Richard, Carlton Richard, Alfred Richard, George Richard; sisters, Beatrice Wisk, June Faulkner, Kathryn Covington, and Bette Fox.
A visitation was held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 6-8 pm at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, P.A.in Greensboro, MD. A service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dover, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Dover, DE.
