LAUREL - Maurice G. Evans, Jr. age 73, of Laurel, passed away on May 5, 2016 at his home. Maurice was born in Baltimore, Md. a son of the late Maurice, Sr. and Eva Marie Evans. Maurice proudly severed his country in the United States Air Force as a security policeman, spending one year in Vietnam. He continued his service in the Air Force as a loadmaster in the 326 MAS. Maurice also retired from civil service working in flight scheduling at Dover Air Force Base. He was past commander of American Legion Post #18 in Laurel and past Sussex County District Commander, he had 52 years of service with the American Legion. Also served as a commissioner for veteran affairs and served several committees for the National American Legion. Maurice is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Bettylou Evans of Laurel; sons, John Fabor of N.C. and Ronald Fabor of California. A Funeral Service will be held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home Laurel, on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 2 p.m., a viewing will also be held one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Ron Wyatt will officiate. Interment with military honors by DAFB Honor Guard, will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel. Contributions can be made in Mr. Evans memory to the Delaware Veterans Home 100 Delaware Veterans Boulevard Milford, DE 19963.
