Mary Lee Bacon Grant

BRIDGEVILLE - Mary Lee Bacon Grant was born Oct. 27,1923, and she passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 24, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Harold & Mary Bacon, Mary attended Fred Douglas school in Seaford, while living in Seaford in her earlier years she married the late Rev. Roland Grant. She then moved to Bridgeville and joined Mt. Calvary Church where she was a faithful member for many years even after her husbands passing. Mary also worked at The Country Rest Home in Greenwood for a number of years caring for the elderly which she truly loved to do. She was preceded in death by nine siblings; a daughter, Faye E. Jarret; and a granddaughter, Inger Jordan Johnson. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Johnson of Bowie, Md.; a son, Roland Grant of Georgetown; two granddaughters, Pam Bilter of Bridgeville, and Chana Kane (Ricky) of Seaford; a grandson, Clarence Jarret Jr. (Angela) of Newark; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and very dear friends. There will be a viewing on Sunday June 5, 2011 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Church in Bridgeville and on Monday June 6, 2011 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. at Union United Methodist Church, Bridgeville. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at odd Fellows Cemetery immediately following the funeral. Professional services entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service, Inc., Milford.
