PRESTON, Md. - Mary K. "Kitty" McCarty of Preston died at her home on Friday, March 2, 2007. She was 68.
Born on Oct. 22, 1938, in Chestertown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Robert Paul, Sr. and Rosebelle Hurtt Jones.
She grew up in Kent County, Md., where she attended public school in Chestertown.
She worked for various clothing manufacturers including General Clothing in Smyrna and later for Yale Sportswear in Easton and later in Federalsburg until her retirement.
Mrs. McCarty is survived by her husband of 23 years, James L. McCarty Sr. of Preston; two sons, Eugene "Pete" Thompson, Jr. of Preston, and James L. McCarty, Jr. of Cordova; two brothers, George Jones of Worton, Md., and Norman Jones of Fruitland, Md.; a sister, Sarah Elizabeth Jones Prescott of Dover; two grandsons, Eugene Thompson III and Chris W. Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton.
