Mary Frances Ricketts

SEAFORD - Mary Frances Ricketts 76, of Seaford, died on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, surrounded by family, at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury, Md. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Fannie Ricketts. Ms. Ricketts was born on Dec. 9, 1933, in Seaford. Mary was educated at Blocksom School and Frederick Douglass High School in Seaford. Mary worked at Caroline Poultry Plant until its closing, and held other various jobs. Her last employment was at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, from which she retired. As a young girl, and into adulthood, Mary was an active member of the Church of God in Seaford, attending on a regular basis. She loved good gospel singing, often attending numerous programs and concerts in the area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank Robinson, Thomas Ricketts Calvin Ricketts, Freddie Ricketts and Carl Ricketts; and one sister, Hattie West. She leaves to cherish her memory a newphew/son, whom she reared, James (Peanut) Dehields and wife, Linda of Dover; special foster sons, Jonathan Wise and wife, LaQuanda of Chesapeake, Va; Lafayette Wise of Wilmington, and other foster sons and daughters; one aunt, Ruth Matthews of Seaford; one uncle, R. David Williams and wife, Lola of Seaford; And Brittany Williams, who was like a granddaughter to her, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at 3 p.m., at Refuge Temple Revival Center in Seaford. Calls may be taken on Saturday evening, Dec. 4, 2010, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Seaford, from 5 to 7 p.m. Arrangements will be handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Seaford.
